Loner Pinot Noir Conspiracy of Ravens

100% Pinot Noir

Sta. Rita Hills > Central Coast > California

The "Loner" label is part of the Sanguis Collective, under the direction of Matthias Pippig. He crafts a cerebral lineup of wines focused on Santa Barbara County, with occasional inclusions from the Sonoma Coast, Willamette Valley, and Columbia Gorge.

This wine was fermented with 50% whole clusters and matured for one year in neutral puncheon and a portion of stainless steel. It presents a pure, red-fruited bouquet with spice notes and pepper. The palate is silky and darkly fruited, revealing additional savory undertones.

New Dawn Dark Leap Red Blend

58% Syrah, 20% Carignan, 17% Grenache, 5% Cinsault

Western Cape > South Africa

“Dark Leap” is inspired by the boldness of risk

the act of leaping into the unknown

the audacious move to bet on instinct, vision, and untapped potential

This wine embodies that same energy

blending unfamiliar varieties from remarkable single vineyards

grown by committed farmers across the Cape

From the winemaker's website:

Rüdger van Wyk didn't grow up in the South African Winelands. He grew up in George, four hours away. His parents were teachers who raised three sons to believe education could break any cycle. His father dreamed of studying geology. Apartheid said otherwise. That quiet hunger for something more planted a seed that would grow into New Dawn.

He studied at Stellenbosch University. He relentlessly refined his craft. Then Burgundy called and that changed everything. Wine became a way of life. Croissants at breakfast. Long lunches with friends. Family dinners. All accompanied by wine. He returned home inspired to create wines that could compete on any stage.

NEW DAWN represents Rüdger's leap of faith. Into the unknown, the darkness. It marks the beginning of his evolution as a founder, winemaker, and owner of a South African wine brand. It signals the evolution of the South African wine industry.  And Rüdger stands as a catalyst for this NEW CAPE movement.

The vineyards face east, southeast and south and are situated about 350 feet above sea level on the gently sloping hills of Pierreclos.
