Envínate ("wine yourself") was founded in 2005 by four winemakers—Roberto Santana, Alfonso Torrente, Laura Ramos, and José Martínez—who met while studying enology. Their project focuses on exploring distinctive parcels, primarily in the Atlantic-inflected regions of Ribeira Sacra and the Canary Islands.
 
Their collective aim is to create profoundly pure wines that clearly and concisely express the terruño of each parcel. To achieve this, their methods are guided by purity:
 
- No chemicals are used in the vineyards.
- Grapes are hand-picked and foot-trodden.
- Fermentation occurs exclusively with wild yeasts, often including a varying proportion of whole clusters.
- Wines are aged in old barrels and concrete, with sulfur added only at bottling, if necessary.
 
The result is a collection of truly honest and expressive Spanish wines.

From 70-80-year-old ungrafted Riesling vines in the prime Gross Schock sector of the Krettnacher Euchariusberg vineyard, which was classified in the highest category on the old taxation maps. Fermented down to barely fruity-styled levels of residual sugar, it offers a beautifully fresh herbal and spicy nose of candied lime, grapefruit zest, redcurrant, violet, & fresh almond. The wine is superbly packed into great ripe and juicy acidity, and the finish is beautifully tangy and playful.

Cariño is a coferment of the Pesquera Tempranillo and Graciano from the late 90’s plantings at Ibarra-Young. The Pesquera Tempranillo at Ibarra-Young is an own-rooted suitcase clone originating from Bodega Pesquera in Pesquera del Duero, Spain. I had never been inspired to make or seek Tempranillo until tending these vines for the last few years. These vines clearly want to be here! They grow easily and always win the beauty contest.
